Is it even worth reloading shotgun these days?

I guess it depends on if you are using lead or steel.

You might try talking to a local gun club. They sometimes have a not so bad buying power.

it works out to about $7.00 a box for steel 3" loads that`s after the initial one time buying eveything to get started.so it`s worth it to me,plus i can load any load i wish instead of buying four or five cases of different loads

My thought on reloading steel is the powder. I know we don't really have any way to test this but what kind of shot velocity do you think we are getting with commercially available powder? Isn't this powder normally for lead target reloads at about 1200 fps?

Someone please tell me I'm wrong here so I can justify buying a reloader to the wife!!!
