I went online and found a way to turn the sheath for my new knife a rich chestnut color by applying hot beeswax to the leather. This also makes it waterproof and a bit stiffer. Anybody know where I can get some beeswax??

Try local hardware stores.
Candle shops may have beeswax candles, don't get scented stuff.
All else fails a marine supplier or a dive shop will have it for zippers on drysuits or survival suits.
