So I went out scouting today for the first time this year and where I found the piss holes last yr I found approx. 15 different bedding sites. I think things are off to a good start. Its a cow and a calf bedding there. I also went to a friends property that I have permission to hunt solely and found some 2010 signs. What would you do. If I decided to hunt there I was thinking I would post a sign just below theres with owners permission on it and my phone number. Man there is no doubt that the scouting is part of the best fun.

I have had my tree stand posted by other hunters where I had permission from the landowner and I did as you are thinking and recieved a call and worked it out that we hunted it and when we tagged out they used the stand (on day 3).
It depends on your relationship with the owner.
In my case its an elderly family friend and wouldn't care otherwise or to be bothered by the telling anyone to go ahead so we use it and move out of the way when we are done.

Yes that sounds fair. I dont want to be dirty but I went about doing things the right way by asking the owner. He also told me that he didnt want any tree stands built which I have no problem. Temporarys are your friend

Im hoping they call me and dont want to fight opening morning. Id rather move on. The owner told me to tell them to move on or they can call him if they like. A 3 day hunt is to short to fight for territory.

Exactly!! With lots of scouting I think a guy can find several areas to fall back to avoid wasting time on conflict where no one wins.

Dido. We have a great area this year with lots of moose, but I fear the worse come opening day, all the work, trips to tend the mineral licks / cams, trail to stands, scouting etc, only to have somebody else come into the area on opening day (or worse before....) and trash all that hardwork.

I'll be scouting some backup options starting next week. We've been preparing for this year's moose hunt since late May, but some guys move in on a territory the day before and lay claim to it all,,,,,certainly no fun in that.

Well today things are really looking good. We found a watering hole where there is 8 different trails leading into it. We seen 3 cows in the morning and a bull in the late afternoon. We are going back in the morning to finalize our plans. We also found another area where there is a whack of beds. It will be a great back up. We seem to be the only ones hunting this area. We decided not to put up any signs. There is no sense in advertising.
Im starting to get excited. Hell no Im really excited. Come on moose season. Bring em on.

Well last nightjust before dark my partner went up to the spot where we will be hunting and there was 2 bulls and 3 cows in the chopping. There was a 21 point and a smaller bull. Things are really heating up. Im heading into the woods tommaro for the week. Time to get er done.
