Canada Customs doesn't care if you bring them in...afaik

But, If you get stopped in the US, by US authorities with an item that's weapon related, and on their export restriction list(or whatever)
you may have an issue...

I am not 100% sure on that though..

I think it's just ammo that they'll nail you for if you get stopped and searched in the states. Canada Customs doesn't care - you can bring in 5000 rounds without penalty. But, without an ATF form 6 stating you can have that in your possession in the states, you're screwed.

A scope should give you no problems.

Scopes are ok, I know people that have bought them in the states but I was wondering if it was possible to buy ammo across the border and bring it back without issues (assuming you have an FAC)
Anyone know how this works?
When you buy the ammo do not mention you are Canadian to the store clerk.
At the border it is no problem, just have less then 5000 rounds total. Declare it and you will have no issues. I regularly buy my rounds in the US and have never had any issues at the border. The only issue is American retailers are not suppose to sell Canadians ammo. So just do like I do and do not mention you are Canadian,

There is no problem bringing a scope into canada, but it is illegal to export a scope outside of the US. That is why the retailers will not ship scope's to Canada, its an American regulation not Canadian. So if you can get the scope to Canadian Customs you are scott free, but don't let the Americans catch you bringing it out. I have in the past bought scopes in the US and then mailed them to myself, no problem at all.

Tuck it under your fron seat.
When they ask you what you are bringing into Canada say "nothing".
Then step on the gas and go home as fast as you can.
Hide it in the basement in an old card board box.
When the Mounties come with Canada Customs and ask why you spead away say "I thought they were done with me"

I'd be cautious. I believe you need an export and import permit for scopes. Canadian Customs may not say anything but I think it is because they are not sure of the regs. There are horror stories online of people buying scopes in the US and US customs stopping them and detaining them for hours. Ammo,... really you have brought it back???

The price in Canada is grossly unfair but do you reality want the potential problems? Also if you have a problem you will run into difficulty shipping it back for warrentee.

Actually the BS was introduced during the Clinton administration. Afterwards, following administrations kept tightening the noose. Companies that do export to Canada are subject to huge fees thus making it not economically viable. In recent years these fees have increased over 1000%. There is however a $100 dollar loophole.

I like to see and feel what I am buying.
I find Cabelas to far of a drive plus to save the money we have to sleep in the truck.
My wife hates that especially when eating sandwichs that are two days old.
Better to drive to Fredericton Outfitters or the Gun Dealer.
