Newer Garmin handhelds support raster maps which can include aerial and sat images. Colorado, Oregon, Dakota and the latest 62/78 series.I would hazard a guess that the imagery would take up a terabyte or two. Especially if you crank it down to the close ups.
If you really want to access out in the field, you could use an inverter in your truck, hook up the laptop, and use the Virgin Mobile Stick from The Source.
Not sure how much it costs for the service. But it would work.
