Guide Licence test

I have to upgrade my guide licence from a II to a I . I wrote my last test in the 80's so i have to re-write to upgrade. My question is how hard is the test. I know it is 50 M/C T/F questions but will reading through the materials be enough?

Thanks

Kevin,
I wrote the test about a month ago. If you read though both the hunting and fishing books, and have an understanding of the rules you sould have no problem with the test. I didn't find it difficult.

All of the answers are in the booklets you get with your fishing and hunting licences.
I don't think I'm particularly bright or knowledgeable and I only got two answers wrong.
As well, I choke on tests and still managed it.
If you know your two books, you'll do fine. If you don't, you just have to read them. (If you, like most hunters and fishermen, read the booklets now and then, you might be surprised just how much you DO know!)
Be sure and call ahead because IIRC a warden has to be present to correct the test. Good luck.
You shouldn't have any problems if you are an avid outdoorsman and you know and understand the common laws of our sport.

Good luck.
It used to be that if you wanted to upgrade you just went to a DNR office and requested it. That is the way I done it I believe, but as you were saying it was in the late seventies for me so things might have changed.

Yes of course you are right Old Guide, if you already have your II you only have to pay a few bucks to upgrade, it's still that way. But if I read the question correctly (and I'm not sure that I do) I think he's saying either:
a) he wrote the test back in the day when the II test only had five questions, which it used to, so they want him to write the new, bigger test, or
he has an old Guide II from the '80s which he hasn't renewed since so he has to rewrite the test.

Kevin can you clarify? Either way, all answers are in the Hunt Guide and Fishing Guide booklets.
When I went to do the test years ago, I thought they still asked five questions and that was it. I had the answers to those five questions down pat. You can imagine my shock and horror when they handed me the big fat 50-question test! But I did it anyway. I screwed up two answers: when you are guiding can you land your sport's salmon? and when you're guiding can you tag your sport's fish?
The woman at the ranger station who takes your money laughed because I was upset at getting two answers wrong.
"You did better than most wardens would do," she said. Ha ha!

I called yesterday and will be writing next week. If you wrote Guide II before 2003 (I think she said) you have to re-write. She can check the data base in Freddie Beach to be sure. I wrote it a long time before that.

Thanks for the responses!
