Hi,

Someone have a suggestion for hunting boots to hunt deer, moose and partridge in Northern New-Brunswick (Bathurst)? I'm looking for a pair of Irish Setter but don't know how much insulate is good for the hunting season here. I do a lot of walk for partridge but not much for deer and moose.

All suggestions is good!

I use mucks boots..... They are pretty warm, but im more of a stay in the stand for 6-8 hours streight so i need it... I have a brand new pair for sale if your interested ... Size 8

Irish setters are a good boot, they are really comfortable and warm and will take a lot of abuse, I believe the pair I had were 800gr and they were light but still warm through the fall when sittingin the deer stand with a pair of good socks I used them through the winter for short periods.but my feet would get cold f I stayed still for any length of time...i have a pair of lacross boots right now that have 1600 gr of insulation and find them fantastic in the winter(I can wear ankle socks and my feet still be warm all day) or when sitting long periods in the fall but they are far to heavy and hot for early fall, or for walking long distances.. next pair I think I will be splitting the difference at around 1000-1200gr...if you are just planning on wearing them during the fall and plan on doing more walking then sitting then I would go lighter, say 800gr

I walk too much for partridge, so those boots are not good for this I think. They doesn't offered me a good ankle support but maybe I'll try them later just for stand hunting.

I already was considering Irish Setter with around 800 to 1000 grams of insulate, so now I am more confident with my choice. My main concern was the ankle support, the ability to keep my feet warm and the durability and comfort. I'll try to get my hand on a pair of Irish Setter Gunflint 800 or 1000 grams.

My favorite for the past fifteen years has been Kamik's insulated green rubber boots. They're inexpensive, tough(got 9 years out of the previous pair), warm, comfortable and waterproof.

Actually was just looking at some Irish Setter boots today,cant remember model name(?) but they have a side zipper and 2000g insulation!!
Around $250ish(??)....think I'll put them on the "must have" list before November,my feet froze last year deer hunting in -20C and below some days......Nov can be bloody well cold in west-central Alberta!!
