This is what he looked like before I shot him. Not a very big 8-pointer. There traditionally have been lots of high, tall 8s and 9s in the area where I shot him, with caribou-like racks. I was surprised to see none this year besides this guy and a 3-pt that had roughly the same body.

Remember, tag is through the leg now.

Well guys..It ended up being tag soup this year.The only antlers I saw was 3 days ago from my blind and it was the biggest spikehorn I ever saw.This deer was 200 pounds plus and I watched him for 20 minutes broadside at 30 yards.It became obvious to me that this deer was at least 3.5 years old and would probably never have a decent rack.He was not what I wanted so I let him go.Congrats to all who had success and I consider my season successful as I could of tagged out had I wished to.

none for me, passed two smaller bucks, yearling spike and 2 yr old 8 pt but didn't see a mature buck while hunting.

Same for me ...
had "X" hairs on a few smaller bucks time and time again ..
just didnt feel right pulling the trigger.. (Must be an age thing .. ;))
