I just found the time to start deer hunting and have a stand set up around the fredericton area. I have been laying down apples for weeks now and have got plenty of doe pics on my game camera but only one of a young 4pt. I was wondering if anyone had some tips on different food or a time to start rattling to try and get a shooter to come in.

Don't rattle in your stand....do it on the ground. move downwind 40 yards afterwards, to a place that you can see even further downwind....this is where he'll circle and come in. Start quietly in case one is close, second round rattle louder. Rattling is most effective the last week of our season unless you luck out and have a doe in heat in your area early. I also smash some brush during the rattling to makle it more realistic. lastly - if he's coming, it won't take long. If he's not there within 20 minutes, either he's circled and busted you or else nothing is within ear shot. Amazing how rattling sound is absorbed and doesn't carry....
